Panel 16 Nous imaginaris sobre els processos d’identificació i opressió. Problematitzacions i aproximacions crítiques al gènere, la identitat i la diversitat.
One of the main contributions of anthropology to knowledge and approaches to understanding reality is its capacity for challenging and deuniversalising, both from an empirical and a conceptual stands, the postulates and categories that are at the base of Western socio-cultural universes. However, in our anthropological practice we often reproduce these categories uncritically as we try to understand and analyse sociocultural phenomena. From the recognition of this contradiction, this panel proposes to challenge (and rethink the limits) of three of the main conceptual and methodological axis of anthropology: gender, identity and diversity. The panel is, then, interested in theoretical and ethnographic contributions that look at the limits of hegemonic categorisations on gender, identity and diversity, as well as, critical approaches to anthropological practice and how this can (re)produce hegemonies and inequalities.
