In celebration of Sant Jordi, this week we would like to share with you two books by members of the GENI research group.
Firstly, we present the book ‘Bla-bla-bla, the Myth of Ecological Capitalism’ by Miguel Pajares. This essay, awarded the Premi Llibreter 2024 in the essay category, addresses crucial questions about the climate emergency and its interrelation with migration policies, the myths of ecological capitalism, and sustainable growth. You can find this book during Sant Jordi at a stand located on Avinguda Diagonal, next to Plaça Valdivia (in front of the Hilton Hotel). Additionally, Miguel Pajares will be at this stand signing copies of his book on Sant Jordi, from 12:00 to 14:00.
Secondly, we recommend the book ‘Tumbar la blanquitud: Urgent Essays on Race and Coloniality’ by Maria Ignacia Ibarra Eliessetch. This essay, highly relevant in the current political and social context, focuses on the invisibility of whiteness in debates about race and power and its role in the oppression of non-white people. Maria Ignacia Ibarra Eliessetch will be signing copies of her book at various establishments during Sant Jordi and will also give a presentation. Here are the details:
- El Lokal (Rambla with Bonsuccés) – From 12:00 to 12:45
- La Ciutat Invisible (Sants) – From 13:00 to 14:00
- Espai Crisi (Sant Antoni) – From 15:00 to 15:50
- La Raposa (Rambla/ La Virreina) – From 16:00 to 17:00
- Ateneu La Zitzania (El Clot) – Presentation at 18:00 together with Victoria Muñoz from CNAA_Cat (African and Afro-descendant Black Community in Catalonia).
These two books offer valuable perspectives and deep reflections on current issues. We encourage you to read them and take the opportunity to meet their authors in person. We hope to see you there and wish you a wonderful Sant Jordi 2025.
